World Champ wins 10km run (16 May 2010)

2010 Ocean Racing Series world beach run champion, Marinus Johnson was the run-away winner of the Homewoods 10km Beach run in a time of 33min 47 from team mate Antonio Seconds with Kowie Striders' Zandisile Dandau in 3rd place. Hailey Johnson won the ladies race from Carin Malherbe and Melissa Bates-Landman.

In the Rotary 5km fun run/walk it was 9 year old Ben Vorster from Rachel Chowles and Reece Farmer.

David Wright 2010 Champion (16 May 2010)

33 year old David Wright won the weekends Hi-Tec Security Coastal 50km MTB race in unseasonally hot conditions. Wright won in 2hr36min from Graham Taylor and Tony Thorburn whilst Melanie Darlow won the ladies race in 3hr25 from Loryn Thorburn and Sabrina Boudler.

The 20km race was won by 17 year old Jason Meaton in 1hr 16min with Brad Boonzaaier second and Cape Townian Robin Wilmot in 3rd place. Candy Boonzaaier won the ladies race from Michelle van Niekerk and Sheryl Hanger.

Xtreme Skowno (15 May 2010)

35 year old Andrew Skowno won Saturday's Extreme off-road triathlon from defending champ James Thorburn and Dan Howitz. Skowno came out of the 1km swim in first place and maintained his lead during the 15km MTB race and the tough 4km Beach Run. Candy Boonzaaier won the ladies race from Sheryl Hanger and Carin Malherbe.

Loftus and Stone win Ski Race (15 May 2010)

Howard Loftus and Andrew Stone won the Pam Golding Surf ski race between Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea in a time of 2hrs 2min on Saturday. Ross Engler and Craig Seale finished 2nd whilst the mixed doubles pairing of Janine Linder and Andrew Dean finished a very creditable 3rd. Alex Midlane from East London won the Single Ski race from Cape Town's Rob Wilmot and Mike Byrnes. The all ladies pairing of Kerry Louw and Tracey Almirall finished in 8th place.

2010 set to be bigger than before (26 March 2010)

With the 2010 program including a local 5-a-side beach soccer tournament for the local children, the KentonXtreme Eco Challenge is set to be more exciting than ever before.

Thorburn in an Xtreme mood (27 April 2009)

32 year old James Thorburn was in top form this weekend, winning both the Multi-Sport Relay (Sat) and the 55km Mountain Bike Ride (Sun). James' time for the MTB ride was 2hrs 45min.

Anthony Cox was second with Ryno Peo third in the individual category of the Relay. The Build-it team 1 was the first team home.

In the very exciting Xtreme MTB race, Tery McGaheg placed 2nd with Blaine Robson 3rd whilst the ladies race was won by Kathy van Dyk (3hrs 24min) ahead of Lynette Rust and Helen Kernohan.

16 year old Zande de la Rey won the 20km MTB race in a time of 1hr17min from Wayne Land and Jason Meaton. Michelle Hewitt was the first lady home (1hr42min) with Arne Rust second and Rene Howlett 3rd.

Luvo Khani won the Xtreme Beach Run in 41:04 from A. Cox with Siyabulela Mtanyana in 3rd place. Terri-Lnne Penney was the first lady (48:20) ahead of Hailey Johnson and Tracy Gous.

von Wildermann Ski Champion (27 April 2009)

Top Eastern Cape paddler, Richard von Wildermann, won the Kenton Eco Estate Downwind Surf Ski race in a time of 1hr 23min from East London's Hennie Roos and Evan Ridge.

Justin McCalgan and Gavin McNish won the Double Ski race from Andre Du Plessis and George Rossouw with Mike Smit and Chris Uys in third place. See full results on the result tab alongside.

Big Mike meets his match! (27 April 2009)

Finally we've found something bigger than Big Mike Rieder...

The surf at Cannon Rocks set the trend for the first ever KentonXtreme Downwind Surf Ski Race and Big Mike was the first one to try and get his teeth into the sets... unfortunately on this occassion coming off second best!

Big Mike will be back next year, of that we can be certain.

2009 takes shape (14 March 2009)

The 2009 KentonXtreme is taking shape with the inclusion of two very exciting new events - the downwind surf ski race and the 10km Xtreme beach run which crosses the Bushman's River.

Manning wins (23 June 2008)

Dave Manning from Nelson Mandela Bay became the first winner of the SPAR Kenton Xtreme over the weekend when he won the 5km paddle, 20km cycle, 5km run in 2hrs 48mins.

Other winners on the day included Tony Thorburn (45km MTB), Elodie Heyns & Ryan Daly (16km paddle), John Chowles (5km paddle), and Mfanyana Siyabulela (5km run).

KentonXtreme is born (25 May 2008)

The Kenton/Bushmans Chamber of Business and Tourism has announced a new multisport event for the Sunshine Coast, taking place on Sat 21st June 2008.

The event is intended to attract families to the Kenton-on-Sea area during the winter period.

Thanks to local support, there will be over R20,000 in lucky draw prizes up for grabs at the event.
